Magical 8 Bit Plugin Vst
A very good and simple chiptune VST by the Band YMCK. Has no own interface and uses the interface of your DAW.
Good to emulate the unique NES Sound. The sound is quite raw and cuts through the mix, often too good and becomes to present, since the normal volume is also quite high compared to other VSTi. But nothing that troubles you, if you know what you do.
The magical 8-bit plugin is a super-light, user friendly chiptune synth One of my favorite and most used free plugins is the Magical 8-Bit Plug from the killer japanese 8-bit jazz group YMCK. This thing is by far the best sounding, most user friendly plugin for 8-bit video game sounds. MiniBit is an 8-bit/chiptune style synthesizer plugin that emulates the sound of 80s game consoles and retro computers. It features a main oscillator with 18 waveforms paired with a sub oscillator (a square wave pitched one octave below). The waveforms are not bandlimited and will produce aliasing. YMCK's Magic 8-bit is a VSTi, use it like any other softsynth. If you don't know how to use softsynths, do tutorial #8 and herb (guitarhacker) also has easy instructions on his website. I'm trying to get a VSTi working called Magical 8 Bit to work, but it isn't working. Unfortunately, there's no documentation on the thing, so I have no idea if it's a 64 or 32 bit dll. I'm running 64 bit, with a 64 bit version of Ableton obv. 2020.02.26 「Magical 8bit Plug 2」リリース NEW! 2014.04.01 Universal Binary版ver0.4を公開。Mac OS X(64bit)対応。ビブラート機能実装。.
It has a square wave, two pulse wave (25%, 12,5%), a triangle wave and a noise channel. Simple editing is possible with a ADSR envelope. You also have some other features like a sweep and the bendrange can be edited, too.
You can download the plugin for free on their Website.
